New Delhi: In a shocking incident, wife of a national Kabaddi player allegedly committed suicide today in West Delhi's Nangloi area.

Lalita, wife of Kabaddi player Rohit Kumar, was found hanging at her home in Nangloi in West Delhi.

According to a report in NDTV, the police said she recorded a two-hour audio message for her husband and a shorter one for her family. In the messages, the 27-year-old alleged that she was tortured for dowry, taunted and beaten by her husband and his family.

Rohit is a known name in the Indian Kabaddi circuit. Playing for the Patna Pirates in the third edition of Pro-Kabaddi League, he became the first player after Anup Kumar in 2014 to win the MVP award in his debut season.

In what was her second marriage, Lalita married Rohit in March this year. She is said to have faced harassment in her first wedding as well.

While the police are yet to question Rohit, his parents, who live separately, are reportedly said to be missing.
