Kolkata: India`s women recurve team, comprising Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Chekrovolu Swuro set up a gold medal clash against the Korean heavyweights at the Archery World Cup Stage I in Shanghai on Friday.
There was a ray of hope in the women`s compound section where India made the bronze medal play-off after going down to Italy in the semifinals. According to information received here, the recurve team, seeded second, with an accumulative qualifying score of 1965 points thrashed Ukraine (Kateryna Palekha, Lidiia Sichenikova and Juliia Zakharchenko) 221-213 en route to the final.
Earlier in the quarters, the trio defeated their Polish opponents 224-216. In the gold medal clash tomorrow, India will take on heavyweights Korea who got the better of China 225-217 in the other semis.
In the mixed recurve event, the duo of Deepika and Rai made a last-eight exit, going down to the mighty USA 140-148.
