New Delhi: The news of Yogeshwar Dutt's London 2012 medal lifted spirits of Indian fans after the disappointment at Rio.

The Haryana wrestler was informed of the color change after IOC decided to strip Russia's Besik Kudukhov was stripped off his silver medal after a failed dope test.

"This is good, another victory for India, Jo likha hota hai, wo hoke rehta hai," Dutt told ANI.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time an Indian athlete was awarded a medal upgrade at a major event.

In 2005, Anju Bobby George finished second with a leap of 6.75m at the at the IAAF World Athletics final in Monte Carlo.

However, the silver was upgraded to gold after Russian long jumper Tatyana Kotova was stripped of the top sport following a dope violation.

Yogi's case however, is the first of its kind for India when it comes to the Olympics.
