Praveen Rana named as Narsingh Yadav's replacement for Rio Olympics by WFI

New Delhi: Amidst the controversy surrounding Narsingh Yadav's failed dope test, Wrestling Federation of India has reportedly chosen to replace him with Praveen Rana in the 74kg category of wrestling for Rio Olympics.

Reports also claim that Praveen, though a replacement, is a precautionary measure to ensure that India don't lose the spot in Rio. If found innocent, Narsingh will be reinstated.

The freestyler, Rana, is himself a recent gold medal winner in the 74 kg weight category at the Dave Schultz Memorial wrestling tournament in USA in 2014 and at the 70kg category wrestling tournament in Italy in 2015.

Even if it is found that there was a conspiracy behind Narsingh, he won't be able to compete if traces of dope still are in his body at the time of the event.

On Monday WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh had said that he feels that injustice has been done to Narsingh and hopes the committee does justice to the wrestler.
