Rafael Nadal expects to be fully fit for 2016 Rio Olympics

Madrid: Fourteen-time major champion Rafael Nadal said Wednesday that he is confident of being fully recovered from injury for the Rio Olympics in a fortnight.

The Spaniard has not played since pulling out of the French Open before the third round because of a wrist injury, and on Tuesday he confirmed his withdrawal from next week`s Toronto Masters.

But the 30-year-old is looking forward to returning to action in Brazil ready for a tilt at a second Olympic gold medal, to add to the singles title he won eight years ago in Beijing.

"I hope I can move a little farther forward each day and reach Rio well prepared," Nadal said.

"The timing is good, there are two and a half weeks before the tournament."

Nadal will compete in the singles in Rio, as well as in the mixed doubles alongside women`s French Open champion Garbine Muguruza.
