READ: Why Sachin Tendulkar not paying for BMWs to Olympics champions isn't a big deal!

New Delhi: Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday presented brand new BMWs to India's Rio Champions – PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, Dipa Karmakar and Pullela Gopichand.

While it was a dream come true for these athletes, a controversy erupted soon after Indian author Shobhaa De posted a tweet asking whether the batting maestro had himself paid for the swanky cars.

Yes, even though Sachin handed over the keys of the cars, they were actually sponsored by businessman V. Chamundeshwarnath, who is the president of the Hyderabad Badminton Association and also one of Tendulkar's friends.

But the point is, one need not make much fuss about it, as the batting icon never claimed he was paying for the cars.

Sachin is not only the brand ambassador for BMW, but he was also India's goodwill ambassador for Rio contingent.

Being the brand ambassador for BMW, the Mumbai cricketer has every right to hand over the keys.

It remains to be seen whether the Master Blaster will react to the controversy in the coming days.
