That's it from us for today. Hope you enjoyed this game as much as we did to bring it to you. The action now shifts to Victoria. Can the Sri Lankans win their second consecutive T20I series or will Australia bounce back? Do join us on February 19 at 1920 Local time (0820 GMT). Good bye. Take care!
Sri Lanka skipper, Upul Tharanga firstly wants to thank the Sri Lankan supporters in Colombo. Adds that they were quite supportive through the series in South Africa and also acknowledges the support in Melbourne. States that it's a good feeling to beat Australia on their home turf and credits his boys for the kind of performance they put in. Realizes that fielding is one department they really need to improve on and it's something they need to improve on.
Australia skipper, Aaron Finch credits the Sri Lankans for a good outing. Says that even Australia batted brilliantly. He praises Turner for removing both set batsmen in the 18th over. Admits that 18 off 18 was not easy to defend but he gave them a chance. He also agrees that they couldn't build on the start they got and should've got a couple of more 15-run overs. Ends his talk by saying that they haven't performed as they would have liked in this format of the game and that is something they can improve.
Asela Gunaratne has been named the Man of the Match for a brisk and scintillating fifty, which was his first in this format. He was the highest scorer for the Islanders and he just took the game away from Australia.
Earlier in the day, Australia managed to power past a score of 160 as the top ordered fired and fired well. If only their middle order could captialize on that and add a few more runs, things might have been different for them.
Australia didn't really bowl well. They could have done better but the captaincy from Aaron Finch didn't help either. The hosts were battered for runs at the start and hit all over. Ashton Turner brought them back in the game by picking up two wickets in a single over, but that wasn't enough. His spin partner Adam Zampa bowled well but there wasn't enough support from the rest.
Gunaratne and Siriwardana then carried on and built on that platform, adding 60 runs and getting their team closer. But the former played a reckless shot which saw him and his partner depart within no time. It all went right down to the last ball of the innings, but some sensible batting from Kapugedera and Prasanna towards the end ensured that Sri Lanka got through and nicked the victory.
A thrilling finish to the game as Sri Lanka have managed to get themselves across the finish line. Although, it can be argued that they should have done it rather comfortably instead of dragging it to the last delivery. With 169 to chase, the Lankans lost their skipper in the very first over but Dickwella and Munaweera started the onslaught from there. They stitched a quickfire 74-run partnership that more or less set the platform for the away team.
19.6: A Tye to C Kapugedera, FOUR! YES HE CAN! Kapugedera slaps this through covers and find the boundary. What a way to win this thriller. The Sri Lankan fans have thoroughly enjoyed this match. Certainly so, they couldn't have asked for anything better. It was necessary to be calm in this pressure situation and Kapugedera held his nerves on the last ball. Coming back to delivery, it was a full ball, outside off, which Kapugedera drove through sweeper cover to ensure that SRI LANKA WIN THIS MATCH BY 5 WICKETS AND LEAD THE 3-MATCH SERIES 1-0!
The keeper is right up to the stumps. Everybody has creeped in, circling the batsman, wanting to save the run. Are we in for a Super Over? Or can Kapugedera finish it off?
19.5: A Tye to C Kapugedera, Nail biting stuff! Kapugedera pulls this short delivery through square leg and sets off immediately. He has two runs on his mind and forces Prasanna to come for it. Deep square leg throws it wide and they complete it easily. Two runs added to the total! 1 run needed off 1!
19.4: A Tye to S Prasanna, Length ball, slower one, Prasanna tries to pull but misses and it hits his inside edge and goes towards the off side. They run through.
19.3: A Tye to C Kapugedera, Length ball, around middle and leg, Kapugedera pulls it through fine leg and runs one.
19.2: A Tye to S Prasanna, NOT OUT! Short of a length delivery, outside off, Prasanna attempts a similar shot but only connects thin air. But this time around, Kapugedera asks him to come for a single. Paine's underarm throw misses the striker's end and goes towards Tye who has a shy at non striker's end. Australia think they have got their man. But replays suggest Prasanna has made his ground.
A run out appeal against Seekkuge Prasanna is taken upstairs. Looked like he's safe in real time. We'll know for sure now though...
19.1: A Tye to S Prasanna, Back of a length delivery, outside off, Prasanna pulls blindly and misses. Dot ball. 6 needed off 5.
Andrew Tye to bowl the final over. He has 6 runs to defend. Can he do it for his team?
End of over 19 (6 runs): Sri Lanka 163/5 ( S Prasanna 7 (6b 1x4 0x6), C Kapugedera 3 (4b 0x4 0x6), J Faulkner 4-0-27-0)
18.6: J Faulkner to S Prasanna, Leg bye! A half hearted appeal as Prasanna gets rapped on the pads in front of the sticks, but the umpire turns it down. They run a leg bye. Six runs needed off the last over.
18.5: J Faulkner to C Kapugedera, Length delivery, outside off, cuts it through covers and rotates the strike. One run added to the total!
18.4: J Faulkner to C Kapugedera, Another slower delivery, outside off, Kapugedera looks to cut but fails to connect.
18.3: J Faulkner to S Prasanna, Slower one, on the sticks, Prasanna flicks it very calmly to backward square leg and runs one.
18.3: J Faulkner to S Prasanna, WIDE! Faulkner sprays this one way outside off and umpire calls it a wide.
18.2: J Faulkner to C Kapugedera, Back of a length delivery, around middle, Kapugedera pulls it in front of square for a single.
18.1: J Faulkner to S Prasanna, Full delivery, outside off, Prasanna looks to cut but gets the inside edge and ball falls on the pitch itself. They steal a single. Paine runs in to effect a run out but the batsmen were very fast there to complete the run.
James Faulkner is back.
End of over 18 (6 runs): Sri Lanka 157/5 ( S Prasanna 5 (3b 1x4 0x6), C Kapugedera 1 (1b 0x4 0x6), A Turner 2-0-12-2)
17.6: A Turner to S Prasanna, Punched off the back foot by the batsman. The batsmen have run through for a single.
17.5: A Turner to S Prasanna, FOUR! Beautiful stroke. Tosses this one outside off, Prasanna cuts this through point, the sweeper cover gives it a chase, even dives but the ball beats him and goes for a boundary.
17.4: A Turner to S Prasanna, Prasanna looks to cut but misses. Paine is interested in caught behind, but the umpire turns it down.
Seekkuge Prasanna is the new batsman in. 17 runs are needed to win off 15 deliveries.
17.3: A Turner to M Siriwardana, OUT! That is a very, very strange decision and certainly controversial. Sprays this down the leg side, Siriwardana looks to tuck it through leg side but misses and gets rapped on the pads. The umpire signals him out instantly. And in no time, Australia have sent back both the set batsmen. Do we have a twist in tale here? Replays suggest that it was missing the leg stump.
17.2: A Turner to C Kapugedera, Kapugedera works it around through square leg for a single.
Chamara Kapugedera is the new man in for Sri Lanka.
17.1: A Turner to A Gunaratne, OUT! Gunaratne looks to play the reverse sweep, but misses as Paine completes a sharp stumping. The part-timer has struck. Tossed up delivery, around off, Gunaratne tries to be cheeky and fails to connect. Paine knows it's out and urges the umpire to go up. The umpire obliges and the replays show that Gunaratne has failed to land his bat back in time.
A stumping appeal against Asela Gunaratne is referred upstairs by the umpire.
Ashton Turner will have a go with the ball.
End of over 17 (11 runs): Sri Lanka 151/3 ( A Gunaratne 52 (36b 7x4 0x6), M Siriwardana 15 (10b 1x4 0x6), Pat Cummins 4-0-29-1)
16.6: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, Length ball, around leg, Gunaratne pulls it fine and sets off for an easy single.
16.5: Pat Cummins to M Siriwardana, Short delivery, around off, Siriwardana looks to pull but finds the edge that goes towards the leg side. They run a single.
16.4: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, Gunaratne flicks this length delivery through square leg for a single.
Maiden T20I fifty for Asela Gunaratne!
16.3: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, FOUR! Gunaratne seems to be in the zone. He has not been perturbed by anything that is happening on the field. Short of a length delivery, outside off, Gunaratne upper cuts it, there was a fielder positioned for that very shot but it falls just away for him and goes for a boundary. Gets to his fifty with that shot.
16.2: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, On a length, around middle, Gunaratne moves back, wanting to cut but misses.
16.1: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, FOUR! Length ball, outside off, Gunaratne opens the face of the bat, uses the pace of the ball and plays it fine for a boundary.
End of over 16 (13 runs): Sri Lanka 140/3 ( A Gunaratne 42 (31b 5x4 0x6), M Siriwardana 14 (9b 1x4 0x6), J Faulkner 3-0-22-0)
15.6: J Faulkner to A Gunaratne, Length ball, around middle and leg, Gunaratne looks to flick but only manages to get the leading edge that flies towards mid off, but it falls short of him. They run a single.
15.5: J Faulkner to A Gunaratne, FOUR! Wristy! Back of a length delivery, around leg, Gunaratne swivels across and plays the lap shot past the fine leg fielder. Runs coming quite easily for the visitors.
15.4: J Faulkner to A Gunaratne, FOUR! Brilliant batting from Sri Lanka. On a length, outside off, Gunaratne cuts it through the point fielder for a comfortable boundary.
15.3: J Faulkner to A Gunaratne, Length ball, outside off, Gunaratne dabs it through point and runs a couple.
15.2: J Faulkner to A Gunaratne, Back of a length delivery, around middle, Gunaratne pulls it through mid-wicket for a brace.
Asela Gunaratne is on the floor after being hit on the box on that last delivery. Some would feel, especially Faulkner, that he had that coming, trying to play such an audacious shot.
15.1: J Faulkner to A Gunaratne, OUCH! That has got to hurt, Gunaratne is hit in the box as he tries to be cheeky. Length delivery, around leg, he gets into the left hander's position trying to hit over point, but he misses and is struck. He's down on the ground, but fortunately seems fine and is ready to go.
James Faulkner is back into the attack.
End of over 15 (7 runs): Sri Lanka 127/3 ( A Gunaratne 29 (25b 3x4 0x6), M Siriwardana 14 (9b 1x4 0x6), Pat Cummins 3-0-18-1)
14.6: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, Length ball, outside off, Gunaratne moves across and edges his drive intentionally to third man for a single.
14.5: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, Short of a length delivery, Gunaratne shuffles across looking to scoop, Cummins follows him and bowls it wide off him. The umpire doesn't signal it as a wide.
14.4: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, FOUR! Full delivery, around leg, Gunaratne goes behind and slices it over point. Pure placement, times it perfectly and the third man had no chance to cut it off.
14.3: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, Back of a length delivery, head height, Gunaratne pulls it straight to the mid-wicket fielder.
14.2: Pat Cummins to M Siriwardana, Marginally ahead of length, around leg, Siriwardana moves across a bit and flicks it through mid-wicket for a single.
14.1: Pat Cummins to A Gunaratne, Length ball, outside off, Gunaratne guides it down to third man and runs one.
Pat Cummins is reintroduced into the attack.
End of over 14 (13 runs): Sri Lanka 120/3 ( M Siriwardana 13 (8b 1x4 0x6), A Gunaratne 23 (20b 2x4 0x6), A Tye 2-0-24-0)
13.6: A Tye to M Siriwardana, Fires it well outside off, looks to go after it but misses.
13.5: A Tye to M Siriwardana, FOUR! Stand and deliver stuff from Milinda Siriwardana. Full around off, the southpaw stands firm and pummels it over mid off. Nobody out there and it will be a boundary.
13.4: A Tye to A Gunaratne, Length ball outside off, it's played to point for a run.
13.3: A Tye to A Gunaratne, FOUR! Edged and away! Shortish delivery banged in on middle and off, Gunaratne goes for the big pull but gets a big top edge on it. It flies over the keeper's head and it races away to the boundary line.
13.2: A Tye to A Gunaratne, Bumper outside off, it's rising quite sharply as Asela doesn't have anything to do with that.
13.1: A Tye to A Gunaratne, FOUR! What a shot! Picked the gap well and placed it to perfection. Length ball on the stumps, Gunaratne gives the charge and lofts it right between mid off and extra cover. Sends it all the way for the boundary.
Andrew Tye is back on.
End of over 13 (9 runs): Sri Lanka 107/3 ( A Gunaratne 14 (16b 0x4 0x6), M Siriwardana 9 (6b 0x4 0x6), A Zampa 4-0-26-2)

Unfortunately for him, it's straight into the hands of Aaron Finch at short mid-wicket who takes an excellent catch. Dilshan will be disappointed with that, he was looking good and doing a lot of damage.
10.3: A Zampa to D Munaweera, Short, flat and outside off, Munaweera hangs back and cuts it through backward point. Uses the field well as he places it well in the gap. Gets two runs for it.

3.6: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, SIX! 24 runs off the over, a very expensive one for Australia! Talk about this shot, exemplary execution. Goes down on one knee and just utilizes the extra pace of the bowler. Connects exceedingly well with his scoop shot and clears the fine leg field for a maximum.
3.6: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, FIVE WIDES! Stanlake bends his back and bowls a bouncer. It goes well over the batsman and keeper for a boundary. Bonus runs for Sri Lanka and they are off to a flier!
3.5: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, Angles across a shortish ball around off, Dickwella tries to get down and paddle scoop but misses. There is some deflection and noise, the Aussies appeal but nothing from the umpire. The replays show the involvement of Niroshan's helmet.
3.4: B Stanlake to D Munaweera, On a length outside off, Munaweera tries to go aerial over covers but ends up slicing it past backward point to third man. One run added to the total.
3.3: B Stanlake to D Munaweera, FOUR! And again. Dilshan is targeting Stanlake here. Another shorter ball around off, Munaweera jumps back on the leg side and smashes it over cover-point for a boundary.
3.2: B Stanlake to D Munaweera, FOUR! He is a strong hitter of a cricket ball! Shortish and around off, Munaweera moves back to make room and slams it over backward point for a boundary.
3.1: B Stanlake to D Munaweera, FOUR! Shot! Fullish and angling on off, Munaweera aligns himself and drills it back past the bowler, past mid off and gets a boundary.
End of over 3 (7 runs): Sri Lanka 22/1 ( N Dickwella 16 (14b 3x4 0x6), D Munaweera 3 (2b 0x4 0x6), Pat Cummins 2-0-11-1)
2.6: Pat Cummins to N Dickwella, FOUR! Fabulous shot! Cummins errs on the pads, Dickwella moves away from the line and whips it over mid-wicket for a boundary.
2.5: Pat Cummins to N Dickwella, The batsman has dug out that yorker at the last second.
A leg slip comes in place...
2.4: Pat Cummins to N Dickwella, The batsman attempts to hook that one but fails to make contact.
2.3: Pat Cummins to N Dickwella, Terrific yorker, around leg, Dickwella hops back and does well to dig it out at the last moment.
2.2: Pat Cummins to D Munaweera, Shortish outside off, slapped over covers for three runs.
2.1: Pat Cummins to D Munaweera, Width on offer outside off, Munaweera throws his bat at it but fails to connect.
End of over 2 (10 runs): Sri Lanka 15/1 ( N Dickwella 12 (10b 2x4 0x6), D Munaweera 0 (0b 0x4 0x6), B Stanlake 1-0-10-0)
1.6: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, Sharp delivery, on a length and around leg, Dickwella tries playing the paddle shot but fails to middle. There is some sound as it goes past him, not sure off what, maybe pads or bat but anyway it doesn't carry to the keeper.
1.5: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, FOUR! Stanlake goes short again, around middle and leg, Niroshan rides the bounce and pulls it over backward square leg for a boundary.
1.4: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, Play and a miss! Outside off, Dickwella gets back, flashes his blade and misses.
1.3: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, FOUR! Not quite from the middle of the bat. Short of a length delivery around middle, Dickwella gets his pull shot away and the ball flies off the outer half of the bat. Flies over backward square leg and goes for a boundary.
1.2: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, Shortish on off, punched off the back foot to the off side.
1.1: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, Appeal for an lbw! That looked close but the umpire shook his head. A fuller length delivery, sharp and landing around leg, Dickwella was beaten for pace as he failed to connect with his flick shot. That rapped him on the pads, they appealed but nothing from the umpire. The replays showed that it pitched on leg and was going on to hit the leg stump. Dickwella is lucky to be still out there.
1.1: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, Wide! Another wayward delivery, down the leg side, Niroshan once again fails to make any use of it.
1.1: B Stanlake to N Dickwella, Wide! Shortish and down the leg side, Dickwella swings his bat with an attempted pull shot but makes no connection.
Billy Stanlake to bowl from the other end.
Dilshan Munaweera walks in at No.3.
End of over 1 (5 runs): Sri Lanka 5/1 ( U Tharanga 0 (2b 0x4 0x6), N Dickwella 4 (4b 0x4 0x6), Pat Cummins 1-0-4-1)
0.6: Pat Cummins to U Tharanga, OUT! Cricket is a team game. The fielding effort on the last ball meant that it's three and not a boundary which brought Tharanga on strike and Cummins bowled a beauty to dismiss him. A length delivery around middle and off, nipping away a shade, Tharanga is caught napping inside the crease, has a gentle push inside the line and gets a thick outside edge to the keeper. Paine makes no mistake and Australia draw first blood!
0.5: Pat Cummins to N Dickwella, Good effort by Head! Cummins angles across a back of a length ball outside off and Dickwella steers it through point. Head gives the chase and pulls it back just before the ropes. Tye, who has moved across to his left from third man, collects the ball and throws it back in place. Three runs taken.
0.4: Pat Cummins to N Dickwella, A touch short and going down leg, Dickwella shuffles across with a premeditated paddle but misses. Strangely, it's not called a wide. Hmm...
0.3: Pat Cummins to N Dickwella, Shortish again, around middle, Dickwella moves back and mistimes his shot back towards the bowler.
0.2: Pat Cummins to U Tharanga, Slips a sharp ball down the leg side, Upul fails to flick and it goes off his pads to backward square leg for a leg bye.
0.1: Pat Cummins to N Dickwella, Starts with a shortish length ball in the line of the stumps, Niroshan makes space by moving towards leg and forces towards wide mid off. They cross for a quick single. Sri Lanka are away!
Welcome back for the run chase. Upul Tharanga and Niroshan Dickwella are the Sri Lankan openers. Pat Cummins to steam in first up with a slip. Here we go...
The pitch is on the slower side and runs off the new ball inside the Powerplay seem to be crucial. Sri Lanka would like to take advantage of the field restriction but at the same time they will have to preserve wickets. Promises to be an exciting chase, do join us in a short while.
The death bowling specialist, Lasith Malinga showed no rustiness in his comeback game and was once again in his elements. He grabbed Head and Turner off consecutive balls in the 19th over which in a way cost Australia a few runs in the end. However, Faulkner's late cameo came at the right time for them.
Aaron Finch and debutant Michael Klinger had a good game with the bat but both of them got out in quick succession to hamper the momentum. Travis Head played a good knock but he kept losing partners at the other end. Moises Henriques and Ashton Turner played brisk knocks to add vital runs to the total.
52/4 in the last five and Australia have managed to take their final total beyond the 150-run mark. The hosts, however, will be disappointed with the runs they have managed on the board after a great start provided by their openers. Credit should be given to the Sri Lankan bowlers, especially Seekkuge Prasanna, who in spite of going wicketless, bowled very tidily to frustrate the batsmen in the middle overs.
19.6: N Kulasekara to J Faulkner, FOUR! A good finish to the innings by James Faulkner. Full toss as Faulkner flicks it over mid-wicket. The fielder out in the deep makes a horrible mess of it, doesn't get behind the ball and it spins away from him to meet the fence. AUSTRALIA END ON 168/6!
19.5: N Kulasekara to J Faulkner, The batsman flicks it away with a wristy shot. The batsmen have picked up a couple of runs.
Big hitting, Pat Cummins arrives in the centre.
19.4: N Kulasekara to J Faulkner, OUT! Paine sacrifices himself for the greater good. Wanted to get Faulkner back on strike, he got the job done but lost his wicket in the process. This full ball is hit down to long on by James. Immediately calls for the second as the throw comes in towards the bowler. Paine dives back in but the bails have been taken off. And replays show that he's gone.
A run out appeal against Tim Paine is referred upstairs by the umpire.
19.4: N Kulasekara to J Faulkner, Wide! Fires it way down the leg side, wide called by the umpire.
19.3: N Kulasekara to J Faulkner, That's some excellent running between the wickets. James Faulkner turns this through mid-wicket and the Aussie pair runs hard. There's a direct hit at the bowler's end but Tim Paine was easily back in for the second.
19.2: N Kulasekara to J Faulkner, Big swing and a miss! Shortish in length, angling in, Faulkner pulls but misses.
19.1: N Kulasekara to J Faulkner, FOUR! Great awareness from James Faulkner. He knows where the fielders are and picks his spot well. Banged in short and outside off, Faulkner makes room and cuts it over short third man. There's no protection out in the deep as the ball races away to the boundary line.
End of over 19 (6 runs): Australia 154/5 ( J Faulkner 1 (1b 0x4 0x6), Tim Paine 0 (0b 0x4 0x6), L Malinga 4-0-29-2)
18.6: L Malinga to J Faulkner, Just... So close. Spears in a yorker on middle, Faulkner manages to dig it out towards mid-wicket for one.
Tim Paine comes into the attack. But it will be James Faulkner to face the hat-trick ball as the batsmen crossed.
18.5: L Malinga to A Turner, OUT! Two in two for Malinga. Low full toss dipping in on leg, Turner makes room and lofts it over mid-wicket. Prasanna is the man out there and once again he takes a good catch, running across to his right.
James Faulkner is in next.
18.4: L Malinga to T Head, OUT! Travis Head is out of here. It's full and outside off, Head lofts it over the covers. He makes decent connection but it's a big boundary out there. He cannot clear the boundary and it's a good catch taken by Prasanna just inside the ropes.
18.3: L Malinga to T Head, Another one of the fuller side, Head clears his front leg and lofts it over mid on. Takes two more.
18.2: L Malinga to A Turner, Arrowed in a full delivery on middle and leg, driven towards mid on for one.
18.1: L Malinga to A Turner, A bit comical from Seekkuge Prasanna. Ashton Turner turns it towards deep backward square leg. Prasanna collects the ball, attempts to throw it back in but spills it just as he's doing so. Luckily for him, he only concedes an extra run. Two taken.
End of over 18 (9 runs): Australia 148/3 ( T Head 29 (23b 0x4 1x6), A Turner 15 (10b 1x4 0x6), N Kulasekara 3-0-24-0)
17.6: N Kulasekara to T Head, The batsman has played it to the point region. They manage to come back for the second.
17.5: N Kulasekara to A Turner, Full ball around off, it's driven to mid on for a single.
What happened there? The umpire calls the Sri Lankan skipper and has a chat. It's once again regarding the fielders inside the ring. Actually, what is happening is that one fielder is taking the start from outside the ring and isn't inside the 30-yard circle at the time of delivery.
17.4: N Kulasekara to T Head, Low full toss outside off, cut away towards the point region for a run.
17.3: N Kulasekara to A Turner, No harm done! Banged in on a shorter length, angling in on middle and off, Turner can only pull it through square leg for just the one.
Free Hit coming up now...
17.3: N Kulasekara to A Turner, No ball! Way down the leg side, Turner looks to flick but misses. But wait, the umpire waits to consult with the square leg umpire as he was about to signal a wide. Signals it as a no ball though as he finds some problem with the field set-up. Only three inside the circle when there should have been four as per the rules. Basic mistake from the Sri Lankan skipper, there.
17.2: N Kulasekara to A Turner, Shortish length delivery, outside off, Ashton Turner drags the pulls to mid-wicket. Didn't exactly middle it but it was enough to fetch him a brace.
17.1: N Kulasekara to T Head, Length delivery angled across, Travis swings wildly across the line, looking to probably clear the boundary but gets it off the inside half on the leg side for one run.
Nuwan Kulasekara is back into the attack as well.
End of over 17 (10 runs): Australia 139/3 ( T Head 25 (20b 0x4 1x6), A Turner 11 (6b 1x4 0x6), L Malinga 3-0-23-0)
16.6: L Malinga to T Head, Low full toss on off, it's hit away to long off for a single.
16.5: L Malinga to A Turner, Malinga once more searches for the inswinging yorker, Turner goes deep inside his crease, makes some room and works it away to mid-wicket for a run.
16.4: L Malinga to T Head, Full toss around off, Head slogs it straight to the mid-wicket fielder. But since the fielder is right at the edge of the circle it allows the southpaw to get off strike.
16.3: L Malinga to A Turner, On a fuller length and shaping in, it's turned away to the on side for a run.
16.2: L Malinga to A Turner, FOUR! Excellent yorker and that's equally well played. Nothing much Malinga can do about that, he did everything right but the placement was just too good. On middle and leg, swinging in, Turner digs it out through backward square leg and sends it across the ropes for a boundary.
16.1: L Malinga to A Turner, Coming in on middle and leg, Ashton Turner works it through mid-wicket and some good running allows him to come back for the second.
Lasith Malinga is back to bowl at the death.
End of over 16 (13 runs): Australia 129/3 ( T Head 23 (18b 0x4 1x6), A Turner 3 (2b 0x4 0x6), V Sanjaya 3-0-35-1)
15.6: V Sanjaya to T Head, SIX! THAT'S A BIG, BIG HIT! Monstrous from Travis Head. It's served to him on a good length, he positions himself well and with all his might, muscles the slog over the mid-wicket boundary for half a dozen. It goes a long way into the stands, the fielder in the deep can do nothing but watch.
15.6: V Sanjaya to T Head, Wide! Fired way, way outside off, it's signalled as a wide.
15.5: V Sanjaya to T Head, The batsman has hit it through mid-wicket off the inside half of the bat. They manage to come back for the second.
15.4: V Sanjaya to A Turner, Some athletic action from Sanjaya. He firstly fires it in the blockhole and gets it hit back in his direction. He dives in his followthrough to stop it first. It parries back towards the striker's end as the batsmen set off. He charges to the ball and dives to underarm it at the stumps but misses. One run completed.
15.3: V Sanjaya to A Turner, Takes the pace off this one and bowls it on a length, Turner works it towards mid-wicket and runs through for a couple.
15.2: V Sanjaya to T Head, Fired in full and well outside off, Head walks down a couple of steps and drills it to the long off fielder for a single.
Debutant Ashton Turner walks in next.
15.1: V Sanjaya to M Henriques, OUT! HENRIQUES HOLES OUT! Full delivery and it's in the slot, Henriques lofts this towards long on. Doesn't get the elevation on it and it's straight down the throat of Kapugedera who makes no mistake in taking that. Another wicket down for the hosts.
Vikum Sanjaya comes back into the attack.
End of over 15 (16 runs): Australia 116/2 ( T Head 14 (15b 0x4 0x6), M Henriques 17 (9b 0x4 1x6), L Sandakan 4-0-30-1)
14.6: L Sandakan to T Head, A complete contrast from the previous delivery, excellent work out in the field from the fielder. Shorter in length around off, Head pulls it away over mid-wicket. A good diving save from the fielder ensures that the ball does not go across the rope. Keeps the batsmen down to two.
14.5: L Sandakan to M Henriques, Poor from the Lankans there. Wrong 'un outside off, Moises gives the charge in an attempt to go big once again but can only manage to edge it. It goes right through the two fielders at backward point and short third man, who arguably should have done better. The Australian batsmen take three runs. The replays showed that the backward point fielder could have done better there and Malinga actually was foxed by the spin on the ball.
14.4: L Sandakan to M Henriques, SIX! Lovely shot! Tossed up from Sandakan, Henriques has made up his mind early here. He skips down the track, gets to the pitch and launches this straight through the line. Hits it dead straight back down the ground and sends it sailing over the fence for a biggie. Terrific shot.
14.3: L Sandakan to T Head, Full around off, Head drives it through mid off and picks up a run.
14.2: L Sandakan to M Henriques, In the air... But it's just short! Sandakan tosses it up outside off, Henriques goes inside out but doesn't connect well at all. It lobs over covers as Sanjaya comes running in from the deep. Puts in a dive forward but the ball just falls short of him. Goes through him which allows the batsmen to take three.
14.1: L Sandakan to T Head, Flat ball, on a fullish length on middle, it's slog swept through mid-wicket for a run.
Lakshan Sandakan comes back into the attack.
End of over 14 (7 runs): Australia 100/2 ( T Head 10 (12b 0x4 0x6), M Henriques 5 (6b 0x4 0x6), L Malinga 2-0-13-0)
13.6: L Malinga to T Head, Low full toss hurled just outside off, Travis Head gets it off the inside half past the diving short mid-wicket fielder and picks up a single to end the over. 100 up for Australia!
13.5: L Malinga to M Henriques, Malinga once again goes for the yorker but just misses his mark, it becomes an overpitched delivery which is driven to long off by Moises Henriques. A single is taken.
13.4: L Malinga to T Head, Quite full, aiming the base of off stump, drilled back down the ground by the left-hander to long off for one run.
13.3: L Malinga to T Head, Spears it full, outside off, Head leans into it and lofts it over the covers. Clears the infield with ease as he gets a couple of runs to his name.
13.2: L Malinga to M Henriques, Another slower full toss, it's a little high this time, it's hit back down to long on by Henriques for a comfortable run.
13.2: L Malinga to M Henriques, Wide! Full and going way down leg, wide called by the umpire.
13.1: L Malinga to M Henriques, An attempted slower yorker which misses, ends up bowling a low, slow full toss on middle, Henriques drives it to the mid-wicket fielder.
Lasith Malinga is back into the attack.
End of over 13 (4 runs): Australia 93/2 ( M Henriques 3 (3b 0x4 0x6), T Head 6 (9b 0x4 0x6), S Prasanna 4-0-23-0)
12.6: S Prasanna to M Henriques, Fired on the pads, it's flicked through mid-wicket and a single is taken as the fielder out in the deep collects it.
12.5: S Prasanna to T Head, Travis Head leans forward to this fuller length ball and pushes it to long off for a single.
12.4: S Prasanna to T Head, Short and wide outside off, cut straight to point. Dot ball.
12.3: S Prasanna to M Henriques, Darts it just back of a driving length, Moises Henriques clips it through the mid-wicket area for one.
12.2: S Prasanna to T Head, Pushed quicker through the air outside off, driven through covers for a single.
12.1: S Prasanna to T Head, DROPPED! And it's by the Lankan skipper himself. Such a bad time to drop a catch, had he taken that, the entire complexion of the game would have changed. Short, flat and wide outside off, Travis Head rocks back and cuts it in the air straight to Tharanga at backward point. He though spills it and laughs in astonishment. He's going to hope that doesn't come back to bite him.
Seekkuge Prasanna returns to the attack.
End of over 12 (11 runs): Australia 89/2 ( T Head 4 (5b 0x4 0x6), M Henriques 1 (1b 0x4 0x6), A Gunaratne 1-0-11-1)
11.6: A Gunaratne to T Head, Travis Head brings his wrists into play and easily works it through to deep mid-wicket for a run.
11.5: A Gunaratne to M Henriques, Full once more from Asela Gunaratne, it's eased back down to long on for a single. Henriques is off the mark, wasting no time in doing so.
11.4: A Gunaratne to T Head, Length delivery on middle and leg, Head works it in front of mid-wicket for a brisk single.
Moises Henriques arrives at number 4.
11.3: A Gunaratne to A Finch, OUT! Finch is gone! The search for the boundary sees him walk back to the dugout. Gunaratne, who showed good form against the Proteas, has carried it here and done well with the ball too. Full and a cutter on the stumps, Aaron Finch gets low to play the big slog sweep. Gets a big top edge which balloons towards Malinga at short fine leg. He runs in a few paces and takes a good catch.
11.2: A Gunaratne to A Finch, Short and coming into the body, it's pulled over mid-wicket by the Aussie skipper for a couple of runs. Probably wants to score as much as possible before Malinga comes back at the death.
11.1: A Gunaratne to A Finch, SIX! Welcome into the attack, mate! Finch invites Gunaratne in the worst possible fashion for the bowler. It's full on middle and leg, Aaron clears his front leg and smokes this high and handsome into the stands over the long on fence for a maximum.
Asela Gunaratne is introduced into the attack. He's fresh from a century in South Africa and that probably will give him confidence to do well with the ball also.
End of over 11 (3 runs): Australia 78/1 ( T Head 2 (3b 0x4 0x6), A Finch 35 (31b 2x4 1x6), L Sandakan 3-0-14-1)
10.6: L Sandakan to T Head, Not out! No, he hasn't. Comfortably safe, there. Sandakan darts it full and flat well outside off, Travis Head looks to drill this away on the off side but is beaten as Dickwella whips the bails off. He feels the southpaw has dragged his back leg out a bit and wants the umpire to take it upstairs. The decision is looked at by the third umpire and the replays show that Travis is safe.
Stumping appeal! It's referred upstairs. Did Head drag his back leg outside the crease?
10.5: L Sandakan to T Head, Full on leg, Head misses his attempted flick shot and gets hit on the pads.
10.4: L Sandakan to T Head, Looped up and attacking the stumps, Travis Head wrists it through wide mid on for a couple of runs.
Travis Head is in next. He's a very promising lad and is taking big steps in the shorter formats for Australia. Would like to play an impact knock today.
10.3: L Sandakan to M Klinger, OUT! KLINGER DEPARTS! Went for the big shot but did not connect well at all. Tossed up around off, Michael Klinger looks to slog it hard over mid-wicket but ends up getting it off the top edge. It lobs over to Lasith Malinga at short third who takes it comfortably by stretching forward. The pressure applied by the Lankan bowlers has done the trick.
10.2: L Sandakan to A Finch, Floats this one up around off, Finch kneels down to sweep it away but gets it off the pads on the off side. A leg bye is taken.
10.1: L Sandakan to A Finch, Shorter, flatter and going across the batsman, Finch cuts it away straight to short third man for no run.
End of over 10 (8 runs): Australia 75/0 ( A Finch 35 (29b 2x4 1x6), M Klinger 38 (31b 4x4 0x6), S Prasanna 3-0-19-0)
9.6: S Prasanna to A Finch, Shorter and outside off, Finch gets back again and this time punches it through point for one. We have reached the half-way mark and Australia are 75/0!
9.5: S Prasanna to A Finch, SIX! Ho! Ho! Ho! Can I call it 2-1 in favour of the batsman? Finch wins this mini battle here. Prasanna gets shorter and on middle, Aaron pushes himself deep inside the crease and launches it over the bowler's head for a maximum. Lovely to watch, this contest!
Well, well, well... Some mind games here. This time the bowler pulls out at the last second. 1-1 as the score stands.
The batsman pulls out at the last second as the bowler tries to rush through his delivery.
9.4: S Prasanna to A Finch, Flatter and shorter outside off, Aaron goes hard at it and mistimes his shot back to the bowler. Prasanna collects the ball and gives a stare.
9.3: S Prasanna to A Finch, Floated on middle, Finch tries to slog but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
9.2: S Prasanna to A Finch, Whoa! Finch brings out a switch hit but fails to make any connection. Tossed up ball and outside leg, Finch ends up swinging and missing the ball completely.
9.1: S Prasanna to M Klinger, Flighted and full outside off, Klinger advances down the track, tries to go over covers maybe, but mistimes it down through mid off for a single.
End of over 9 (6 runs): Australia 67/0 ( M Klinger 37 (30b 4x4 0x6), A Finch 28 (24b 2x4 0x6), L Sandakan 2-0-12-0)
8.6: L Sandakan to M Klinger, Walks down the track to a full ball and flicks it with the spin through mid-wicket for a single.
8.5: L Sandakan to M Klinger, Quicker and shorter outside off, turning the other way, Klinger rocks back to cut but is beaten for probably pace.
8.4: L Sandakan to M Klinger, Flighted on off, driven straight to extra cover.
8.3: L Sandakan to A Finch, Goes on the back foot and punches it straight down to Vikum at long off. This time he makes no mistake and only one run is taken.
8.2: L Sandakan to M Klinger, Loopy full ball outside off, Klinger lifts it over the infield at covers and crosses for a run. The long off fielder, Sanjaya, charges towards the ball and then misfields to allow two extra runs. Poor from the debutant!
8.1: L Sandakan to A Finch, Goes down on one knee and sweeps it through backward square leg for a single.
End of over 8 (8 runs): Australia 61/0 ( A Finch 26 (22b 2x4 0x6), M Klinger 33 (26b 4x4 0x6), S Prasanna 2-0-11-0)
7.6: S Prasanna to A Finch, 1000 T20I runs for Aaron Finch! Knocks a full ball down through mid on for a run.
7.5: S Prasanna to A Finch, FOUR! Rare bad delivery today by Prasanna, serves a low full toss around leg, Finch gets back and whips it off his pads through mid-wicket for a boundary.
7.4: S Prasanna to M Klinger, Stumping chance missed! Smart bowling by Prasanna. He sees the charge from the batsman and bowls it full and wide outside off. Klinger swings and misses but Dickwella also fails to collect the ball. Michael drags his bat inside the crease. Since the ball has deflected towards short fine leg off the keeper's gloves, Finch calls him through for a bye.
7.3: S Prasanna to A Finch, Gets on the back foot and punches a shortish ball through covers for a single.
7.2: S Prasanna to M Klinger, Full floated on off, driven through wide mid off for a single.
7.1: S Prasanna to M Klinger, Flattish and on middle, the batsman tried flicking after getting down the track but missed and was hit on the pads.
End of over 7 (6 runs): Australia 53/0 ( A Finch 20 (19b 1x4 0x6), M Klinger 32 (23b 4x4 0x6), L Sandakan 1-0-6-0)

6.5: L Sandakan to M Klinger, Gets back and hits it away through extra cover again for one.
6.4: L Sandakan to A Finch, Spinning the other way, a touch short again, it's stroked through extra cover for a run. 50 up for Australia!
6.3: L Sandakan to A Finch, Flatter and shorter outside off, cut from the back foot to short third man.
6.2: L Sandakan to M Klinger, Shortish and on off, punched down to long off for a run.
6.1: L Sandakan to A Finch, Loopy full ball on off, Finch plays a premeditated paddle towards backward square leg for a single.
Lakshan Sandakan, the Chinaman, is brought into the attack now. He has a slip in place for Aaron Finch.
