London: Former WBA and IBF world champion, Amir Khan has said he would love to see friend and Bolton Wanderer’s midfielder Fabrice Muamba, at his next fight against current champion Lamont Peterson on May 19.
Khan, who is a local of Bolton, revealed Muamba had told him personally that he would like to attend his match against Peterson.
“I know Fabrice quite well and it would be fantastic to see him at ringside. I’ve met him out in Bolton numerous times and also at the club training ground,” The Sun quoted Khan, as saying.
“The last time I saw him was actually only a few weeks ago in Manchester and he came over and hugged me. We chatted and he said that he was going to come over to Las Vegas for my next fight. He’s a very nice guy and to see that happen is so sad,” he said.
Muamba, who tragically suffered a cardiac arrest during Bolton’s FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday, is now able to breath independently, and has been answering questions with his status regarded as serious, not critical by doctors at the London Chest Hospital.
Khan, who is a season ticket holder at Bolton’s home ground Reebok Stadium added: “I’ve been constantly checking for updates on Fabrice and I heard the news he is talking a little bit which is brilliant to hear.”
