The great golf player was cheered wildly as he lobbed a neat throw straight into the arms of the catcher and held his arms aloft to soak up the acclaim. However, his form in golf has been questionable. McIlroy would need to step up from his current form after missing three cuts on the trot, followed by a final hole blowout at the FedEx St Jude Classic in order to defend his U.S. Open championship, starting this weekend. But McIlroy was relieved not to make a fool out of himself in front of such big crowd during the baseball match. “I’m so pleased I didn’t embarrass myself. You dread the thought of bouncing the ball miles short, or throwing it high over the catcher’s head. I was pretty pleased with my throw — I didn’t get any boos from the crowd. It’s a great honour and not something that comes your way every day,” McIlroy said. “It’s been a great experience here — even the bobblehead figure is better looking than me! When you miss three cuts in a row I think it’s only natural you just start to question yourself and question your game a little bit,” he added. ANI
