London: Michael Jackson`s personal doctor has said that he did not kill the late star, and claimed that he is being made a scapegoat for the singer’s shocking death.Dr Conrad Murray is suspected of injecting Jackson with the potent painkiller Demerol, before the star collapsed in his home.
Speaking for the first time since Jackson’s death, Murray denied administering any drugs that would have killed the King of Pop.
"I have lost a good friend. I did not give Michael anything that should have led to his death. I do not know anything more than anyone else about what killed Michael - but it wasn`t me,” the Daily Express quoted Murray as having told Britain`s Sunday People.
"It`s human nature to try and find a scapegoat but if I was the focus of a criminal probe I would have been told by now. I have been told nothing even though I have been co-operating with the police since day one," he added.
Murray was quizzed by cops in relation to the final moments leading up to Jackson’s passing.
He was said to have been under constant protection, fearing that Jackson fans might target him over the singer’s death.
A source told Britain`s News of the World: "Dr Murray did all he could to resuscitate Michael. He is in a terrible situation. Anyone who was there when Michael died would face similar anger from his fans because they feel he should have done more to save him. He is being given round-the-clock protection from the security team who looked after Michael."
