Melbourne: Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza along with her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig defeated veteran duo Leander Paes and Martina Hingis in the mixed doubles quarterfinal of Australian Open 2016 on Thursday.
It took Sania and Dodig 73 minutes to win the match where Paes and Hingis looked totally out of rhythm.
Earlier, Mirza and Dodig defeated Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Yaroslava Shvedova 7-5, 6-2 in one hour and eight minutes.
On the other other hand, the Indo-Swiss pair beat Jean-Julien Rojer and Sloane Stephens 6-1, 6-2 to set up a quarterfinal clash between the favourites.
Since Paes and Hingis are unseeded, despite being defending champions, the draw pit them against Mirza and Dodig in the quarterfinals.
