New Delhi: One of tennis fraternity's greatest ever player Roger Federer notched another feather to his cap after becoming the first man to win 300 Grand Slam matches.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion beat Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 3-6 6-1 6-4 to take out his third round encounter and advance to the fourth, in the ongoing Australian Open being held in Melbourne. 

Federer also holds the record for making the most number of appearances in a Grand Slam final (27).

Federer stated after the game that his opponent Dimitrov picks up the ball similarly to him and that he enjoys the good man's game. "[Grigor] picks up the ball similarly to me, on the forehand and the backhand. I enjoy his game. He is a good guy also".
