French Open 2012 final: ‘The match point’ Djokovic couldn't save

The World No. 1 faltered at the crucial match point against King of clat Nadal in French Open Final.

Paris: With his never-say-die spirit, Novak Djokovic has won several intriguing encounters in the last one year in which he saved six match points under nail-biting situations of major tournaments. Djokovic saved four match points and came back to beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-1, 5-7, 5-7, 7-6 (6), 6-1 in the French Open quarterfinals. Out of those four match-points, two were consecutive and yet Nole managed to outclass the Frenchman in front of a crowd which supported the local boy in unison. In another intense five-setter in the US Open 2011, Djoker managed to save two match-points against Roger Federer in the semi-finals to go onto win the US Open last year. Having saved six-points over the period of one year was a commendable job for the World No. 1, but he made a blunder at against Nadal at the match-point of French Open final. A rare blunder, as he committed a double fault only to see Nadal burst into tears for his historic moment. World No. 1 Novak Djokovic was seeking history against Rafael Nadal who was equally determined to enter the history books. But, it was the Spanish Matador who made history as he reached his ‘seventh heaven’ at Roland Garros.
