Five Wimbledon facts - day two

London: Five facts on the second day of Wimbledon at the All England Club on Tuesday:

1) All five of the Wimbledon warm-up winners -- Roger Federer (Halle), Denis Istomin (Nottingham), Nicolas Mahut (`s-Hertogenbosch), Andy Murray (Queen`s) and Rafael Nadal (Stuttgart) are in action Tuesday. In the Open Era, the pre-Wimbledon tournaments have only produced 14 Wimbledon champions between them -- 10 from Queen`s and 4 from Halle.

2) Three of the seven Americans to start this year men`s main draw are in action Tuesday -- Sam Querrey, Tim Smyczek and Jack Sock. This is the fewest Americans to start the men`s main draw since 1947, when there were just five.

3) Nicolas Mahut is playing at this year`s Wimbledon courtesy of his 11th Grand Slam wild card. The Frenchman has received the most wild cards at a Grand Slam in the Open Era, ahead of Michael Llodra, Mark Petchey and Chris Wilkinson who received nine each at the majors.

4) Aljaz Bedene, Kyle Edmund, Brydan Klein, Andy Murray and James Ward are all in action on Tuesday and looking to join Liam Broady in the second round for the host nation. There have not been as many as three British men in the second round at Wimbledon since 2006, when Richard Bloomfield, Jamie Delgado, Tim Henman, Martin Lee and Murray progressed to that stage.

5) Steve Darcis returns to Wimbledon for the first time since he shocked Nadal in the first round in 2013. The Belgian faces Spanish serve-and-volleyer Feliciano Lopez.
