Yuki to clash with Rastogi in ITF Futures quarters

New Delhi: Teen sensation Yuki Bhambri and experienced Karan Rastogi set up a singles quarter-final clash

of the USD 15,000 ITF Futures tournament after winning their respective second round matches here on Wednesday. Second seed Yuki got steamrolled Chinese qualifier Wan Gao 6-3, 6-1 while seventh seed Rastogi quelled the challenge of compatriot Vijayant Malik 6-3, 6-3. Ranjeet Virali Murugesan is the only other Indian player surviving in the competition as Akash Wagh and Yannick Nelord bite the dust in their respective second round matches. Third seed Ranjeet deafeted Chinese qualifier Peng Gao 6-4, 6-2 while Akash lost by the same margin to fifth seed Thai K Wachiramanowong. Ranjeet and Wachiramanowong will not fight it out for a berth in the semifinals. Yannick went down fighting against Taipei qualifier Huang Liang-Chi 6-7 (4), 4-6 in his second round encounter. Meanwhile, South African Davis Cupper and top seed Rik de Voest also made the last-eight stage after scoring an easy 6-1, 6-2 win over China`s Xin-Yuan Yu. PTI
