Goa Assembly`s Public Accounts
Committee (PAC) is understood to have expressed fears that if
illegal mining in the state is not curbed, even the legal
mines here will face closure, highly-placed sources said.
The much-awaited PAC report on the illegal mining in Goa would not
name any politician or minister unless the person`s direct
involvement was established, said committee`s Chairman (and
BJP leader) Manohar Parrikar on Monday.
Speaker Meira Kumar
appears to be in no hurry to decide whether the "document"
submitted by PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi on its scrutiny
into the 2G scam issue is indeed the report of the committee.
The controversial draft report that was sharply critical of the PMO, Prime Minister, the then Finance Minister P Chidambaram among others was `rejected` by the majority of members during a chaotic meeting last week.
