Facing the threat of stern government action, private airlines which carry about one lakh domestic passengers each day called off their August 18 strike.
With govt cracking whip, private airlines` strike call on Aug 18 appeared to be losing steam on Sunday with budget carrier Spicejet saying it was reconsidering its position while MDLR Airlines announced it would operate that day.
With private airlines which have threatened to go on a one-day strike, BJP on Friday said the dismal situation was a result of the government`s failure to provide incentives for the aviation industry.
