Remove January 1 cut off date to register new voters: EC to govt

In a bid to ensure that young citizens are registered as voters as soon as they turn 18, the Election Commission has asked the government to do away with the January 1 cut off date for the purpose as it deprives several youths from participating in the electoral exercise.
