Left parties on Sunday announced a 12-hour all-India general strike on September 20 to protest against government`s decision on diesel price, LPG cylinders and FDI in multi-brand retail.
Mamata Banerjee took to the streets with the warning that her party would take `hard` decisions at the end of her 72-hour deadline.
The AGP unit of Barpeta district shouted slogans against the UPA government and demanded roll back of the price hike.
Differences surfaced in Cong over diesel price hike and restricting supply of cooking gas with a sr leader demanding roll back of the decisions.
Dubbing the Rs 5 per litre hike in diesel price as an "unpleasant" decision of the govt, Congress said it was not in favour of an increase to such an extent.
