Researchers from Ohio-based University of Akron have discovered leptin in the mallard duck, peregrine falcon and zebra finch, marking the first time the hormone has been found in birds.
A huge 9,000-strong colony of emperor penguins has been discovered in Antarctica after scientists spotted their poo trails in satellite images.
Emperor penguin, the largest species of the distinctive waddling creatures can grow up to 1.15 metres tall.
