A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country 1.2 kg of gold bars at Indira Gandhi International airport here.
Days after 24 kg gold was recovered from an aeroplane in the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, customs officials made twin seizures, confiscating Rs 1.29 crore worth of the metal.
An Indian passenger returning from Dubai was on Saturday arrested at the Mumbai international airport for allegedly trying to smuggle in 2.55 kg of gold bars collectively valued at Rs 70 lakh, a Customs official said.
Gold bars worth Rs 90 lakhs were seized and three passengers arrested at a city airport on Tuesday while they were allegedly trying to smuggle the precious metal.
