National Conference president Farooq Abdullah Wednesday said both India and Pakistan should de-escalate tension along the LoC and the International border in Jammu and Kashmir to enable people live peacefully.
The BJP on Friday said the ceasefire violations along the LoC and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir are totally "unacceptable" and asked the Centre to "teach Pakistan a lesson" through political means.
Pakistan troops resorted to heavy shelling at Indian positions in the Poonch sector on Tuesday afternoon even as Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde arrived in the state to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite the goodwill measures taken by the Prime Ministers of the both sides, Pakistan troops continue to violate ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and resort to heavy firing on the Indian posts.
Appeals to Pakistan to respect the sanctity of the Line of Control were unlikely to yield any results and India should instead adopt a tough posture when dealing with the neighbouring country, BJP said.
