Dinsha Patel, who has been elevated to Cabinet rank, today expressed the hope that new Mines Bill will be passed in the Winter Session of Parliament paving way for development of tribal areas besides curbing illegal mining.
The provisions for sharing of profits and royalty on mining in the new Mines Bill were today opposed by senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh.
The proposed new mines legislation that envisages 26 percent profit sharing by miners with project-affected people, among other things, is likely to be placed again before a Group of Ministers (GoM).
