A Pakistani court has asked the Government to respond to JuD chief Hafiz Saeed's plea seeking direction to raise with the US the matter of USD 10 million bounty slapped on the founder of LeT, blamed for 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The United States unveiled a new indictment and slapped a USD 5 million reward today on the head of a Chinese man it called a "principal supplier" to Iran`s ballistic missile program.
The USD 10 mn bounty on Hafiz Saeed was the subject of a verbal tit-for-tat at an interaction Home Secretary RK Singh had with journalists in Pak.
US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron P Munter has blamed the Pakistani media for misreporting the issue of Hafiz Saeed.
Pakistan`s JuD chief and an alleged 26/11 Mumbai mastermind, Hafiz Mohammad Saeed had decided not to go into hiding even after the US announced a bounty of $10 million on his head..
The media noted that Saeed had been placed under house
arrest several times in the past, including after the 2008
Mumbai attacks that were blamed on the LeT.
India welcomed the announcement, saying ‘it reflects the commitment of India and the US to bringing the perpetrators of the Mumbai terrorist attack to justice.’
The US announcement of a USD 10
million bounty on Hafiz Saeed is a
proof that Pakistan harbours terrorists, Home Secretary R K Singh said on Tuesday.
