Google drops Instant Search feature – Here's all you should know

New Delhi: Search engine giant Google is dropping its “Instant Search feature” that automatically prompts search results while you type in a query, as per a report in Search Engine Land.

In a statement to SearchEngineLand, a spokesperson said, “We launched Google Instant back in 2010 with the goal to provide users with the information they need as quickly as possible... Since then, many more of our searches happen on mobile, with very different input and interaction and screen constraints. With this in mind, we have decided to remove Google Instant, so we can focus on ways to make Search even faster and more fluid on all devices.”

As users type in a query, the Google search box would display a list of suggested terms and displays the actual results for the top suggestion.

Google Instant search was applicable on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer 8 software for browsing the internet.

The Google Instant was launched in 2010, shortly after Microsoft's rival search engine Bing began handling online queries at Yahoo.

Henceforth, you will only see search suggestions while you type and you can click on those suggestions to see the results. It means that from now the search results will not load any result pages if you don't click on a search suggestion or press enter.
