Citizenship Amendment Act does not amend any existing legal provision which enables any foreigner to apply for Indian citizenship through registration/naturalisation. The CAA does not apply to Indian citizens. They are completely unaffected by it, MHA said.

Delhi Police to use drones to track anti-CAA protests after violence
Delhi has witnessed massive violence over CAA in the past three days. On Sunday, violent clashes erupted between the police and protesters in Jamia Millia Islamia University over the Act. The protests continued till Monday and a day later, on Tuesday, the anti-CAA outrage hit Seelampur and Jafradbad areas of north east Delhi.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) was passed by both the Houses of the Parliament last week and hours later, it became an Act after President Ram Nath Kovind's nod. Ever since the passage of CAB in the Parliament, the country has witnessed several violent protests in most of the states, particularly in Assam, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The Dibrugarh district administration informed that the curfew is being relaxed in the district from 6 am to 8 pm for today. The curfew in Shillong has also been relaxed from 6 am to 7 pm on Tuesday.

'State govts don't have power to refuse implementation of Citizenship Act'
The Act aims to give Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Zorastrian communities fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. It was passed in the Rajya Sabha on December 11 with 125 votes in favour and 99 against it. Earlier the Bill was passed in Lok Sabha with a thumping majority on December 9.
