Vodafone to infuse Rs 3,375 crore in VIL
Besides Vodafone, Aditya Birla Group plans to pump in up to Rs 1,125 crore. The telecom operator will seek shareholders' approval for raising up to Rs 14,500 crore as well as increase its authorised share capital to Rs 75,000 crore. Currently, Birlas own more than 27 per cent stake in VIL while Vodafone Plc holds over 44 per cent shareholding in VIL.

British telecom operator Vodafone Plc in a statement earlier stated that it will participate in VIL's fundraising process along with the Aditya Birla group. The company's trading window will remain close till 48 hours from the conclusion of the board meeting and open on March 6, the filing said.

Govt telecom revenues to be significantly higher than BE next fiscal: official
The telecom revenue collection is expected to be higher than the budget estimates of Rs 53,986.72 crore for the current financial year at Rs 71,959.24 crore. Rajaraman said that the DoT has already collected Rs 69,559 crore as of February 3. If telecom operators' demands are met then the medium band spectrum should cost them only Rs 492 crore at the base price.

Data price hikes limited Facebook user growth in India: Meta
The profit of Meta declined by 8 per cent to USD 10.28 billion in the December 2021 quarter, from USD 11.21 billion in the same period a year ago. Its monthly active users (MAUs), however, grew 4 per cent on an annual basis to 2.91 billion. The total revenue of Meta jumped by 20 per cent to USD 33.67 billion during the quarter, from USD 28 billion in the same period of 2020.

Telecom sector to benefit with the roll out of 5G services, say experts
The requisite spectrum auctions will be held this year, according to the Finance Minister, to permit the launch of 5G mobile services by 2022-23. The universal service obligation fund will be allocated 5% of annual collections to enable affordable broadband and mobile service proliferation in rural and isolated locations.

Budget 2022: Telcos seek refund of Rs 35,000 cr input tax credit
At present, licence fees paid by the telecom operators is calculated as 8 per cent of revenue earned from telecom services, technically called adjusted gross revenue (AGR). The government has removed several revenue heads that were part of AGR as well as abolished spectrum usage charges (SUC) on radiowaves that will be purchased in the future auctions as part of the telecom reforms. The industry body said around 85 per cent of telecom equipment in the country is imported and basic customs duty (BCD) of 20 per cent is levied on them.

Vodafone Idea loses 42.8 lakh mobile users in June
Vodafone Idea lost about 42.8 lakh subscribers during June, as its user base shrunk to 27.3 crore. Bharti Airtel added 38.1 lakh wireless subscribers in June, pushing up its mobile user base to 35.2 crore. The top five service providers constituted 98.7 per cent market share of the total broadband subscribers at the end of June.
