New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel will on Wednesday launch his `Badlo Dilli Padyatra` with an aim to inform voters in slums and jhuggis about the allegedly failed promises of the Congress government and put forward his party`s "positive agenda".
The `Badlo Dilli Padyatra` will begin from Lal Bagh on the GT-Karnal Road at 10 AM. "I would be visiting all slums and jhuggis to tell the poor how the Congress government has neglected them," Goel told reporters yesterday. BJP would hold the yatra with a "positive agenda" and tell the people that, if would be voted to power, it would reduce the power tariff. "We would tell them how BJP would reintroduce the `point system` of power connection, which was in existence during the Sahib Singh Varma regime and under which they had to pay Rs 20 or Rs 30 per point of electricity connection," Goel had said. Attacking the Congress government over the Food Security Act, he said the government has cheated the people with it as they would now be getting just 5 kg wheat instead of the 35 kg which they used to under the public distribution system. "The present PDS is corrupt and the government has cheated the slum dwellers. They have also cheated the poor people in the name of Rajiv Ratna Awas Yojna, (RRAY), as they were not given houses despite 2.77 lakh people filling the form," Goel said, adding that his party had given the slogan `Jahan Jhuggi, Wahi Makaan` and provided them with flats. "They had drawn flak from the Lokayukata on the issue of providing 7,000 flats," he said. Buoyed by the success of Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi`s September rally in the city, the party has sought three more days from him for rallies ahead of the December 4 elections. He said they had received the date of November 30 from Modi to address a rally in Delhi while the other dates were being finalised. Senior leaders like BJP National President Rajnath Singh, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, Varun Gandhi, Smriti Irani and Shahnawaz Hussain would also be addressing rallies in Delhi. Goel said that party leaders would be filing nominations for the Assembly polls from Wednesday, including leaders like Jay Bhagwan Agarwal, Moti Lal Sodhi, Shikha Rai, Parvesh Verma, and Jatinder Singh Shanti (Shiromani Akali Dal).
