Delhi polls: Narendra Modi`s rallies today, no entry in Sheila Dikshit`s turf

Bharatiya Janata Party`s prime ministerial candidate and star campaigner Narendra Modi will address three rallies ahead of crucial Delhi Assembly Elections.

New Delhi: A day after Congress moved the Election Commission seeking stern action against Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party`s prime ministerial candidate and star campaigner will on Saturday address three rallies ahead of crucial Assembly Elections in the national capital slated to take place on December 04. Modi`s first rally will begin at around 11 am in east Delhi`s Shahdara and will cover 16 constituencies, the next rally will take place at 3 pm in west Delhi`s Sultanpuri covering 12 constituencies and the last will be held at 5 pm in Chandni Chowk in the walled city, covering 10 constituencies. Modi will address a single rally on December 01 that is scheduled to take place in Ambedkar Nagar in south Delhi at 4 pm and will cover nine constituencies. However, Modi has been denied permission to address a rally in the New Delhi constituency. The New Delhi Municipal Council has reportedly rejected the BJP`s request to hold a rally in the constituency of Chief Minster Sheila Dikshit, citing security concerns as the reason. Undeterred, the BJP has reportedly decided to set up LED screens across the New Delhi constituency on December 01 to make Modi heard. "The Chief Minister (Sheila Dikshit) is afraid of Modi coming to New Delhi and was not willing to cooperate. The authorities refused to give us a proper venue for the rally so we had to cancel it," party leader Vijender Gupta said earlier this week. Gupta would be competing against incumbent CM Sheila Dikshit and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal for the New Delhi seat. Delhi has a total of 70 Assembly seats. According to a BJP leader, the party is trying hard to cash in on Modi`s popularity.
