BSF foils intrusion bid along IB in Jammu

BSF troops foiled an intrusion bid in the wee hours on Saturday and fired after observing suspected movement along the International Border in Jammu sector.

Jammu: BSF troops foiled an intrusion bid in the wee hours on Saturday and fired after observing suspected movement along the International Border in Jammu sector. On searching the area of suspected movement, the troops found 4,96,000 fake Indian currency, a Chinese pistol, a magazine with seven rounds of ammunition and two Pakistani SIM cards, a senior BSF officer said.
"Alert troops of Chhawani Border Out Post (BoP) of 193 Battalion BSF in R S Pura tehsil of Jammu sector observed suspicious movement across the fence on the International Border at about 0230 hours today," a senior BSF officer said. The suspected persons entered Indian territory from Pakistan and on observing this, BSF troops opened fire on them, the officer said. Taking cover of the thick vegetation and undulating ground, suspected persons fled back to Pakistan side, he said. On searching the area, the troops found two packets near the IB and on opening them, Rs 4,96,000 fake Indian currency, one Chinese pistol, one Magazine with 7 rounds ammunition and 2 zong Sims (Pak) were recovered, he said. The round-the-clock vigilance has been increased along the IB in Jammu, Samba and Kathua sectors in Jammu frontier. There was suspected movement along the IB at Sidharwan Border Out Post in Akhnoor belt of Jammu district on July 31 and the intrusion bid was foiled by BSF. PTI
