French woman`s molestation: panel takes suo motu cognisance

West Bengal Women`s Commission initiated a suo motu cognisance into the alleged molestation of French woman last week.

Kolkata: West Bengal Women`s Commission initiated a suo motu cognisance into the alleged molestation of French woman here last week. "We have started a suo motu cognisance into the molestation of the French woman," said Sunanda Mukherjee, Chairperson of the Commission.

The woman was allegedly molested by three youths in posh Jodhpur Park area at around 3 am on Saturday when she, along with her male companion, was returning home. The woman`s male companion was also assaulted. The two were returning from a party at Alliance Francaise where he works as a senior official. All the three accused were arrested. PTI
