JD (U) welcomes Telangana state

New Delhi: Janata Dal (U) President Sharad Yadav on Tuesday welcomed the decision to create Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh and appealed to votaries and opponents of separate statehood to maintain calm.

"We supported it earlier also and now welcome this division that has taken place. But we appeal that peace is maintained by both sides", Yadav said. He said the "government took a long time (in deciding on the issue) but it had snowballed into a major issue". PTI
