Delhi exit polls: Congress biggest loser, BJP has slight edge over AAP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears to have an edge over the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, according to the outcome of exit polls on Wednesday.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears to have an edge over the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, according to the outcome of exit polls on Wednesday. Delhi, which witnessed a three-way contest between Congress, BJP and AAP has 70 Assembly seats. According to the ABP News-Nielsen survey, BJP is expected to get 37 seats, Congress will get 16 and AAP will bag 15, while Others will manage to bag 2. According to the Times Now-C voter survey, Congress will bag 24 setas, BJP to win 31, and the new political outfit AAP 12, while Others will get 4. India Today-ORG survey also predicted handsome victory for the BJP. The survey conducted shows that Congress will get 20 seats, BJP to win big with 41, Kejriwal’s AAP will manage 6 and Others will get 3. The Delhi Assembly polls witnessed a record turnout of 66 percent. 1993 polls, the first time Delhi had Assembly polls, had a turnout of 61.75 percent, the highest record until Wednesday`s. In the 2008 Assembly elections, a total of 57.58 percent polling was recorded. A total of 810 candidates battled it out in the polls in which over 11.9 million voters were eligible to exercise their franchise. Ballot count will be held December 8.
