New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party Tuesday claimed to have created a space for itself among "big political parties" and made a huge impact on the people one year after its formation.
Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal had officially launched the party on this day last year after splitting from anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare.
"AAP was born 2day 1 yr ago. It has made a huge impact. May God give us wisdom, courage n humility 2 fulfils our vision of crrption free India (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted.
"Unlike an-year-old toddler, we had not only learn to walk but also to run, and have managed to create a space for ourself among the big political parties," said another leader Yogendra Yadav.
Kejriwal had said November 26 would be remembered for launching a revolution to change the current political system.
It was in September 2012 that Hazare and Kejriwal parted ways and the splinter group led by Kejriwal formed the political party and announced that it would contest all 70 seats in the Delhi assembly polls.
Various surveys predicted that the party is likely to win around 18-25 seats in the December 4 Assembly polls.
The party is being questioned about its funds, with various political parties alleging they have been getting funds from abroad, which has been vehemently contradicted by the party.
Meanwhile, the party rubbished a "poster campaign" being carried out by an NGO questioning why an autorickshaw driver Bhag Singh was denied party ticket from Kalkaji and alleged Kejriwal of cheating the auto drivers.
"We had said that Bhag Singh had withdrawn his candidature due to some personal and social reasons," said AAP Leader Sanjay Singh, adding all the claims by the secretary of the NGO were wrong.
