New Delhi: The stress to find job intensifies when one is doing graduation. Further, stress levels go up when one looks at their unemployed seniors and the slowing economy. The Indian economy is nowadays going through a tough phase, which in turn is affecting the job market and is also having a negative impact on freshers. “Dream big and start small,” said Sanjeev Bikhchandani, founder and executive vice-chairman of Naukri.com, on Bharat Bhagya Vidhata show Yuva Mange More, where the theme ‘Employed India’ was debated upon. Jayanta Roy Chowdhury, senior Journalist at ‘The Telegraph’, also shared his views on the topic. “The slowing economy is adversely affecting the job market. In such a scenario, one should try to gain some work experience in the concerned field, as this matters a lot while searching for jobs. One should also try to sharpen one’s skills in a specific field,” said Bikhchandani when asked about job availability in the market. Replying to the same question, Chowdhury said, “For the past two years, the IT sector has been showing growth. Other sectors have, on the other hand, shown growth only on papers.” “To succeed, one has to face pressures and make sacrifices. Not everything comes on your platter unless you work hard for it. One should decide oneself which path to choose to achieve success,” said Bikhchandani when asked how a graduate should seek capital to get started. Chowdhury, however, said, “One should pursue his/her interest. I too did the same, and the result is in front of you. I am indeed happy with my decision.” “A BPO offers you the job related to sales skill, which may help you in the future because even if recession prevails, sales job will always be available,” said Sanjeev when asked if a job at a BPO is the only option left for the youth. “It all depends on the condition of your family. If you don’t have any family pressure, you can think of choices in selecting; otherwise you must grab the opportunity that is in your hand. You should be committed to your goals. Do not blindly follow what others are doing. Be focused and think about yourself. Those who try definitely succeed one day,” said Chowdhury. When asked about consultancy firms that seek money from candidates and provide jobs that are temporary, Bhikchandani replied, "Consultancies that ask for money are fake. Those are fraud firms that are playing with the future of job aspirants. Instead of going to such consultants, you should gain work experience, be it paid one or unpaid." "Gain as much work experience as you can. If you are able to show your work experience and capabilities in your profile, you will easily get a good job comparable to pass outs from IITs and IIMs," said Chowdhury, in a bid to inspire the youth present on the show.
