Rahul Gandhi accuses Nitish Kumar of betraying mandate, Bihar CM promises to give befitting reply at right time

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday said that he will give a befitting reply to all the allegations made by Congress vice-president at the right time.

"Will give befitting answers to his allegations at the right time," Nitish told reporters after he was asked to comment on the charges made by Rahul and RJD chief Lalu Yadav.

Earlier today, Rahul, whose party was part of grand alliance in Bihar, slammed Nitish for deserting 'Mahagathbandhan' and joining hands with BJP.

"We were aware of what was going on from last three-four months. This is the problem with Indian politics. For the sake of power and personal gains, they compromise with anything," Gandhi said.

"Bihar had given an anti-communal mandate but Nitish Kumar has gone back to them (the BJP) for his personal political gains," added Gandhi.

Soon after taking oath for the sixth time as Chief Minister, Nitish said that development of Bihar and justice was his priority and asserted that his decision to join hands with the BJP was in the interest of the state.

"My commitment is for the people of Bihar and for the development of Bihar. The decision is in Bihar's interest and for its development. This is a collective decision. I will continue to serve the people of Bihar," Nitish said.

On Wednesday, after Nitish announced to move out of the Mahagathbandhan and reached the Raj Bhavan to hand over his resignation to the Governor, Lalu accused Nitish of betraying the people of the state and claimed that Kumar resigned as the CM not because of corruption allegations against Tejashwi Yadav but due to a murder case in which he is an accused.

"Nitish knew very well that he will not be able to save himself in the murder case that's why he played the resignation drama," Lalu alleged while addressing a press conference at his Patna residence yesterday.
