Legendary singer-composer Bhupen Hazarika hospitalised

Mumbai: Legendary singer-composer Dr Bhupen Hazarika was admitted to Kokilaben hospital in suburban Andheri here after he complained of difficulty in breathing, hospital sources said today.

The 85-year-old multifaceted genius was hospitalised yesterday when he suffered breathing problems. He was treated immediately. He is stable and doing fine, hospital sources told reporters. The maestro has been kept in the ICU and is under observation but is out of danger, the sources added. Hazarika is a noted poet, music composer, singer, actor, journalist, author and filmmaker of high repute and has been decorated with several prestigious awards including Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Bhushan, Sangeet-Natak Academy Ratna award and the `Assam Ratna` award by the Assam government for his contribution towards building bridges of unity and culture not only in the north east region but across the country.
