The 62-year-old actress has been honoured with the award for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in upcoming film ‘The Iron Lady’. Brad Pitt won best actor for his performances in baseball film ‘Moneyball’ and Terrence Malick’s cosmic drama ‘The Tree of Life’. Silent film ‘The Artist’ was named best film of the year and also won best director for Michel Hazanavicius. The awards will be handed out at a ceremony on 9 January, the BBC reported. The other acting prizes went to Jessica Chastain for her supporting roles in ‘The Help’, ‘The Tree of Life’ and ‘Take Shelter’, while veteran actor Albert Brooks won best supporting actor for ‘Drive’. Werner Herzog’s 3D documentary ‘Cave of Forgotten Dreams’ also picked up best non-fiction film, with financial industry thriller ‘Margin Call’ winning best first feature for JC Chandor. Iranian drama ‘A Separation’ was voted best foreign film. ANI
