Samsung Galaxy S3: Samsung to take on Apple over patent claim

The company hopes to come to terms with Apple before June 21, the day the Galaxy S3 comes out on major US carriers.

Samsung, close at the heels of its flagship Galaxy S3’s worldwide launch, stated Friday that it will go head-to-head with arch-rival Apple’s recent patent infringement claim that was filed earlier this week.

Apple plans to ban the Samsung Galaxy S3 from reaching American shores, and from being sold in Australia and some parts of Europe.

Apple claims that Samsung violated patents for its voice-controlled assistant, SIRI, among other user interface patents, by introducing ‘S-Voice’, Samsung’s own take at voice-recognition and control software technology

In its defence Samsung plans to exhibit the S-Voice in court, claiming that the company’s software is innovative and distinctive.

The company hopes to come to terms with Apple before June 21, the day the Galaxy S3 comes out on major US carriers.

Galaxy S3 is expected to roll out on major service like AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular and Verizon.
