Mumbai: She has made almost every actor dance to her tunes but choreographer Geeta Kapoor says she is desperately looking for an opportunity to explore Ritesh Deshmukh`s dancing ability.
Geeta, 37, who is currently a judge on the third season of `Dance India Dance`, said Riteish has proved his mettle as an actor but he is yet to be known as a dancer.
"Riteish is no doubt a brilliant actor but he hasn`t paid attention to his dancing skills yet. If you minutely observe his expressions then you would know how brilliant he could be in dance. I am desperately looking forward to an opportunity to work with him so that I can bring out the hidden talent in him," said Geeta.
She started her career as an assistant to choreographer Farah Khan and choreographed many films like `Fiza`, `Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham`, `Saathiya` and recently `Tees Maar Khan`s `Sheila Ki Jawani`.
Though it was a tough time for her to choose dance as a career option but Geeta says she is happy that over a period of time the profession has attained its due respectability.
"It was tough for me to become a choreographer because it wasn`t a career option. It was not a respectable profession. Now, the scenario has changed and people have started to respect this form of art.
"With the onset of dance-based shows, people have started being exposed to various other dance forms and they have started looking at it with respect," she said.
Geeta said that dance as a profession has also opened doors to other career options.
"The biggest example is Remo (the other judge of the Dance India Dance`). He started his career as a choreographer but now he has become a director too. There are many ex-participants of dance reality shows who have become assistants to many leading choreographers of the industry," she said.
Asked about the ongoing trend of item numbers in Bollywood, Geeta, who has choreographed `Sheila Ki Jawani` with Farah Khan, said, "It`s just a phase and will phase out soon. It all started with Malaika Arora Khan`s `Chahiyan Chaiyan` and after that almost all the leading actresses have started doing it."
