Noted Actress Asha Parekh says she is enjoying her sabbatical from silver screen and leaves it to destiny if ever she would direct a film. She wonders if ever artistes of her generation will get strong, meatier roles in the present day Hindi cinema.

Panaji: Noted Actress Asha Parekh says she is enjoying her sabbatical from silver screen and leaves it to destiny if ever she would direct a film. She wonders if ever artistes of her generation will get strong, meatier roles in the present day Hindi cinema.
The veteran actor rues lack of good content in present day mainstream commercial films. She said social work keeps her busy at the moment.
"I am actively involved in running a hospital in Mumbai," she said. "Technically, we have become superior, the present crop of actors is also fine who are doing good work despite several pulls and pressures, but I am saddened at the deteriorating quality of content," Asha who is being felicitated for completing 50 years in the film industry at the ongoing 40th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) with screening of two of her films "Dil De ke dekho" and "Kati Patang" said while interacting with mediapersons. She admitted that "Dil De ke Dekho" and "Kati Patang" portray her evolvement as an actress - glamorous roles to characters with substance "I have taken a backseat from acting," she said, adding that there were no good, meatier roles for actors of her age. "Good roles should come my way and I should be inclined to take up projects," the actress-television producer said. PTI
