Mumbai: Shocked at the suicide of Viveka Babajee, the family of late supermodel addressed the media through their publicist, who categorically denied reports stating that Viveka suffered from depression. “Viveka was a happy, cheerful, independent and courageous girl who financially supported her mother,” he said. The publicist said that Viveka was going around with Gautam Vora and both were considering marriage. Apparently, Viveka told her mother – Dayawanti Babajee, that she wanted to marry Gautam. In fact, Gautam too asked Viveka whether she can bear her baby and asked her to get medically tested. Meanwhile, Gautam and Viveka also got their horoscopes matched. The representative added that the family had just immersed Viveka’s ashes in Nashik and is waiting for the police investigation to get over in order to take recourse to the legal action. Meanwhile, the local Police have taken the statement of Viveka’s mother. Earlier, Gautam Vora’s mother came to her son’s rescue by stating that there was no relationship between Gautam and Viveka. Meanwhile, Police questioned family members, friends and relatives of the model but was yet to quiz her boy friend Gautam Vora. She said that Gautam and Viveka knew each other just a month before the latter’s suicide. She also added that Gautam is innocent and should not be linked to Viveka’s suicide. Viveka committed suicide by hanging herself in her apartment at Continental Towers in suburban Bandra on Friday. A mobile phone, a laptop, a diary and a few letters addressed to Gautam Vora were among the various things recovered from her residence, said Khar Police Station Senior Inspector Mangesh Pote. "Post mortem report received from Cooper Hospital states that the 37-year-old model died as a result of hanging. There appears to be no foul play," he added. Police sources said they would go through the diary and last phone calls she had made and received. "We have asked the mobile service provider to provide details of all her phone calls. A few days back, Viveka had a heated argument with her boyfriend. Her friends have told us that she appeared depressed for the past few days due to some personal problem," another police official said. "According to her friends, Gautam and Viveka were dating for the past few months. We are yet to call Gautam for questioning," the official said. The model had tried to commit suicide earlier as well, he added. Viveka`s family members, friends and relatives have been called for questioning, police sources said, adding no suicide note was found in her apartment. The model featured in several well-known advertisements, including those for Kamasutra condoms.
