Lindsay Lohan cleared over fight with Betty Ford Centre

Los Angeles: Lindsay Lohan has some good news after a long time. Prosecutors have dropped a battery case filed by a rehab worker against the actress last year.

The 24-year-old is set to go on trial in the case of the alleged theft of a USD 2,500 necklace, but her name has been cleared in the assault case, reported TMZ. Riverside County District Attorney`s spokesman John Hall says prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to pursue a misdemeanour battery case against the actress. Betty Ford Center worker Dawn Holland accused Lohan of battery in December. She was later fired from the facility, located east of Los Angeles, after talking about the incident to the media. Prosecutors had been reviewing potential evidence since then and announced the decision on Tuesday. In December Holland filed a complaint against Lindsay, 24, alleging that the actress had assaulted her during the court-ordered stay at the clinic. But Lohan claims that Holland "touched her first". Investigators interviewed witnesses to find out who in fact was the aggressor during the alleged attack, which apparently left Holland with a sprained arm. The District Attorney`s office investigated the incident despite Holland retracting her allegations and withdrawing her criminal complaint against Lohan. In a separate case, Lohan is due in a Los Angeles court on April 22 for a hearing in a felony grand theft case filed after a jewellery store accused her of taking a $2,500 necklace. She has rejected a judge`s offer of a plea deal in her jewellery theft case and is now facing trial. The `Mean Girls` star intends to fight a case filed over the alleged theft from a high-end store in Venice, California. PTI
