Freida Pinto to support underprivileged girls in India

Mumbai: Freida Pinto, who has hit it big in Hollywood, will now be seen fighting for the rights of underprivileged girls. The actress, who is involved with big Hollywood films, has been roped by a foundation called ‘Nanhi Kali’. The foundation, an initiative of Anand Mahindra aims to provide free education to 1,00,000 girls across India by 2010 and is hoping to get the support of 101 most successful women in the world. Talking about choosing Freida Pinto, Sheetal Mehta, President, Mahindra Foundation Trust said to a news daily, “The reason to choose Freida was due to her global appeal and her inspiring success story. She is independent, successful and an achiever in her own right``. The actress, who has regularly been in news after ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ hit the jackpot at Oscars, is quickly becoming a part of Hollywood crowd. Her affair with co-star Dev Patel has been the talk of the town. Her most anticipated films are, ‘You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger’ by Woody Allen and ‘Miral’ by Oscar Nominated director Julian Schnabel.
