Polanski returns home in France

Filmmaker Roman Polanski has returned to his home in France for the first time since his release from house arrest in Switzerland.

London: Filmmaker Roman Polanski has returned to his home in France for the first time since his release from house arrest in Switzerland.
The `Rosemary`s Baby` filmmaker was freed earlier this month after Swiss officials turned down US prosecutors` requests to extradite him on a 33-year-old child sex charge, reported a news daily. Polanski had been restricted to his luxury chalet in Gstaad since he was taken into custody in Zurich last September en route to a film festival. The 76-year-old director, Polish by birth, has now returned to his adopted France with his wife Emmanuelle Seigner. The director was spotted on the streets of Paris on Sunday when he accompanied Seigner and their son Elvis to a restaurant. Polanski fled America and set up home in France on the eve of sentencing after pleading guilty to a charge of unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977. PTI
