Lohan`s father has launched a desperate attempt to stop his daughter from smoking.

London: Lindsay Lohan`s estranged father has launched a desperate attempt to stop his troubled daughter from smoking while she is struggling to give up drugs in court-ordered rehab.

Michael Lohan has been banned from visiting his daughter at the Betty Ford Clinic in Rancho Mirage, California but that hasn`t stopped him from trying to get his anti-smoking message across, a website reported. According to reports he has sent his daughter an electric smokeless cigarette as part of a care package and hopes that the `Mean Girls` star will at least try the device which would trigger a decision to quit smoking for good. The care package sent to the 24-year-old actress also reportedly contained over USD 8,000 worth of clothing. PTI
