David Beckham takes a 3 million pay cut

London: He is one of the highest paid sportsmen in the world but soccer heartthrob David Beckham had to take a whopping USD 3 million pay cut after his company’s profits dipped.

The turnover of his company ‘Footwork Production’ has witnessed a slump, going down to USD 17.1 million (2010) from USD 23.2 million (2005). The footballer who is married to former ‘Spice Girl’ Victoria Beckham, received a salary of USD 16.2 million in 2009 but due to the decline in profits he received only USD 13.5 million this year, reported Daily Mirror online. But, despite a drop in worth of USD 37.5 million, Beckham is still valued at USD 150 million, said the newspaper. The ace footballer is currently going through a rough patch in his personal life too. A prostitute recently claimed to have had an affair with him and Beckham was also named in a court case over claims of an affair with a married mother-of-two. PTI
