Steyn suffers bruise but will be fit for Dutch clash

South African fast bowler Dale Steyn suffered a minor bruise on his right thigh during team training.

New Delhi: South African fast bowler Dale Steyn on Sunday suffered a minor bruise on his right thigh during team training while Imran Tahir and J P Duminy were given rest due to throat infection and stiff back respectively, their team manager said.
Mohammed Moosajee told PTI that Steyn is expected to be fit for their next World Cup game against the Netherlands at Mohali on Thursday. "Steyn bruised his right thigh in a collision while playing football in early part of training and so he was taken off after that. It`s a minor problem and he will be all right for Thursday`s game," Moosajee said. He said Tahir, who took 4/41 in South Africa`s opening match win over the West Indies, and Duminy, who scored 42 not out in that game, were also having minor issues. Tahir and Duminy did not turn up for team training on Sunday but Moosajee said it was a precautionary measure. "Tahir is having a throat infection while Duminy had a stiff lower back after his innings at Ferozeshah Kotla. Both are improving and we did not field them in Sunday`s practice as precautionary measures. They should be all right in the three more days we have before the match against the Netherlands," he said.Regarding A B Villiers, who also developed a sore back problem after hitting a century against West Indies, has recovered. "AB has no problem now and he took part in the practice," Moosajee said. PTI
