Helen Mirren apologises for on-air slur

London: Academy award winning actress Helen Mirren was forced to apologise after uttering the four-lettered word live on air.

The veteran whose turn as Queen Elizabeth II won her an Oscar, appeared on the BBC Breakfast Show and used an expletive while describing her admiration for famed English thespian John Gielgud. The 65-year-old actress paid tribute to the late actor by praising his clipped accent and his penchant for curse words. "He was always my inspiration for the choices he made, he was this great knight of the British theatre. He always took such edgy choices, and he would always say in that wonderful voice he had," said Mirren prior to cussing on air. While the presenters of the live show pointed out the mistake, the veteran actress laughed it off before adding, "Oops, I`m so sorry." Bill Turnbull, the presenter immediately apologised to the viewers saying, "That never happened. If you heard that, we are very sorry." PTI
