Jackie Chan wants Kung Fu in Olympics

Martial arts superstar Jackie Chan wants Kung Fu to be recognised as an official sport at the Olympic Games.

London: Martial arts superstar Jackie Chan wants Kung Fu to be recognised as an official sport at the Olympic Games.
The `Karate Kid` star is campaigning to bring more martial arts to the Games and is hoping to convince Olympics committee bosses to include Kung Fu in the competing categories, reported a news website. The 56-year-old star began learning Kung Fu as a young boy and still practices his moves on a daily basis. The international sports competition currently features Asian combat disciplines such as taekwondo and judo, called wushu in Mandarin. "I love wushu a lot and I would love to see it included in future Olympic Games," said Chan. But the `Rush Hour` star admits that the many different styles of Kung Fu fighting will make it difficult to become a Olympic sport. "This makes it difficult for wushu to make a unified impression to international audiences," said the actor. PTI
